Bedford is just a stone’s throw away from Historic Downtown Grapevine, The Northeast Mall, and Grapevine Mills Mall to fulfill everyone’s shopping desires. Bedford is home to a number of national and local restaurants, including Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, Café Sicilia, Texas Roadhouse, and Posados Café.
Parks and Recreation
Bedford real estate includes a significant amount of parkland and open spaces. Bedford Boys Ranch Park is one of Bedford’s most popular parks. At 68 acres, the park features a .4-mile jogging path that surrounds a small urban lake, three youth baseball fields, three youth soccer fields, two sand volleyball courts, six lighted recreational tennis courts, a shuffleboard court, a swing set, a roller hockey court, and a fishing pier. Bedford Ranch Park puts on seasonal festivals every year to celebrate events such as Independence Day and Labor Day Weekend. The park also is home to Bedford Splash Aquatic Center and the Boys Ranch Activity Center – Bedford’s only recreation center.
Bedford real estate appeals to many family budgets and is close to everything the DFW area has to offer. According to Sperling’s Best Places to Live, in 2017 about 50 percent of Bedford residents were married and about 25 percent were married with children. The unemployment rate in Bedford is only 3.6 percent, well below the statewide average. Median home cost in Bedford is $246,000 as of 2017.
Schools, Health, Transportation
With 19 elementary schools, five junior high schools, and two high schools, the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District is one of the largest suburban school districts in Texas. It is also one of the most highly rated, with schools in the top 10% nationwide. Harmony Science Academy is a charter school in Euless that offers a comprehensive college preparatory program that emphasizes science, mathematics, and technology. St. Vincent’s School in Bedford is a Christian school that teaches children from pre-K through grade 12. For higher education, the The University of Texas at Arlington is close to all three cities.
The cities’ prime location in the DFW area means Bedford residents have their choice of facilities for medical care. Southwest Surgical Hospital is located in Hurst. The Texas Health Harris Methodist Hurst-Euless-Bedford Hospital is located in Bedford. North Hills Hospital is nearby in North Richland Hills. The Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine is about six miles from Euless, and the Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital is just seven miles from Bedford. Cook Children’s Northeast Hospital in Hurst provides pediatric urgent care, diagnostic imaging, and surgical services to the region’s children.
The Trinity Railway Express runs right through the Mid-Cities area and offers regular commuter rail service to both Fort Worth and Dallas. There also are two Amtrak stations within 20 miles of Bedford and Euless (one in Fort Worth and one in Dallas), and the Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport is less than 10 miles away.
