Kid-Friendly Activities in DFW for Summer
Summer is fast approaching in the DFW area. And, summer means two things in Texas: hot weather and no school for the kids. While we can’t do anything about the hot weather, we can plan some fun activities with the kids during their time off. There is never a shortage of kid friendly things to do in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. However, there are some events in the area that are more suitable to do with your children. Let’s take a look at some of the top activities to do with your kids this summer around DFW:
This new park bridges the space between uptown and downtown. Klyde Park has all kinds of activities for your children. From a children’s park and dog park to ping pong and croquet, your kids will have a great time!
Bring the kiddos to Adventure Landing for go-karts, laser tag, bumper boats, an 18-hole miniature golf course, and more to the location in Dallas off of Coit Road. !

Nickelmania is a nickel arcade located in Carrollton. More than 125 of the latest arcade versions of the classic and recent video games appear here. Entry is $2 per person and a fist full of nickels.
Six Flags Over Texas & Hurricane Harbor
- DFW’s largest theme park features roller coasters, rides, and events perfect for an afternoon of fun for children of all ages.
- DFW’s largest water park features the lazy river, the black hole, surf lagoon, Der Stuka, and more!

With locations in Dallas, Carrollton, and Grapevine, the Summit Rock Climbing Gym is the perfect place for some physical activity this summer. The gym offers free yoga classes for its members and indoor climbing.
Dallas Zoo & Dallas World Aquarium
The Dallas Zoo offers year-round programs. In the summer they also have concerts in the park every Saturday from May 13 to July 15. Click here for the concert schedule.
- The Aquarium has underwater and avian worlds to explore, plus Grupo Pakal dance performances to native music every Saturday and Sunday.
There’s nothing better than hitting the ballpark for an afternoon or evening of Rangers baseball. Click here for the schedule.
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Pokey O’s, located off Mockingbird and Central Expressway, is a mom and pop ice cream parlor offering a wide variety of flavors of homemade ice cream, cookies, flavored popcorn, and other sweet treats. Must try item: Ice Cream Tacos – they are delicious!
