Southlake Earns Tree City USA Award

Since 1976, Tree City USA has been setting the standard for cities across the U.S. to maintain its urban forestry. Now, for 22 years in a row, the City of Southlake earned the Tree City USA award for 2018, presented by Arbor Day Foundation.

Southlake exemplifies what it means to uphold the values of maintaining sustainable tree management. To qualify for the award, cities must meet the following criteria:

  1. Maintaining a tree board or department;
  2. Establishing a community tree ordinance;
  3. Spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry;
  4. Celebrating Arbor Day

The program has been helping communities all over the country to be greener, and Southlake has taken great care to be a leader in the movement.
