  • Carrollton, TX is a city of approximately 143,718 people straddling three counties- Denton, Dallas and Collin- 20 miles northwest of downtown Dallas. Relocate America and Money magazine have declared the 37 square miles it occupies among the best places to live in America. This is due in part to the number of major corporations that maintain their headquarters in Carrollton. In the years between 2000 and 2009, Collin County experienced a 53 percent job growth. It has also been highly ranked in other areas as well: In 2014, Hubwallet named it one of the Best Cities for First Time Homebuyers, Safewise calls it one of the 50 Safest Cities in Texas, Areavibe ranked it the Third Best Place to Live in America, and in 2013, Nerdwallet named it one of the Top Ten Cities for Young Families.

    Initially an agricultural community, the addition of the railroad in 1878 stimulated industrial growth. Cotton gins and flour mills gave way to shipping cattle, grain and cotton. Remaining small from inception until 1970, Carrollton suddenly exploded with the overflow of people from north Dallas. From 1970 until 1980, the population jumped by 193 percent. The average temperature ranges from a 34°F low in winter to a high of 95°F in summer.

Historic Downtown Carrollton is a haven of boutiques and independent retail establishments like A Honey of a Deal Boutique for casual clothing for stylish women, Custom Color Fine Jewelers, a family-owned jewelry store, Silver Star Mercantile for unique gifts, and the Finishing Touch Antique Mall. Because of its proximity to Dallas, Carrollton enjoys many of the same major attractions. Favorites include Six Flags Over TexasTexas Motor Speedway, Dallas Zoo and Hurricane Harbor Water Park. Professional sports teams include the Cowboys, the Mavericks, the Stars, FC Dallas Soccer and the Texas Rangers. The Dallas arts district, at 69 acres, is the largest downtown arts district in America.

Three major airports connect Carrollton to the outside world including Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, about 15 minutes south. Addison Airport is a single runway airport in a neighboring community and is proudly home to the Cavanaugh Flight Museum.
