  • Flower Mound began as a settlement in the early 1840s, but was not incorporated until 1961. Significant population growth took place in the area after the opening of the nearby Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, and the town enjoyed one of the fastest growth rates in the nation in the last quarter of the 20th century. Flower Mound real estate is conveniently located to the nearby Dallas metropolitan area, and many of those who live in the town make a daily commute to the city. The town has continued to attract new residents since the year 2000 and boasts a population of about 75,956.

Shopping and Dining

Quite a few shopping options surround Flower Mound real estate. Located about four miles to the north, The Highlands of Flower Mound is one of the biggest shopping resources in the area, with many different retail shopping options and dining options. In addition, Grapevine Mills to the southeast is another mall in the area and features 180 different retail stores, including J Crew, Neiman Marcus Last Call, and Forever 21. For grocery shopping, residents of Flower Mound real estate can head to Walmart or Kroger on Flower Mound Road or Market Street to name a couple and there is a Walgreens pharmacy on Long Prairie Road.

The town of Flower Mound is divided between several different school districts, but the Lewisville Independent School District is the most prominent. Several private schools are located in and around town, including Coram Deo Academy and Primrose School of NE Flower Mound. Those pursuing higher education near Flower Mound can study at Deloitte University in Westlake, The University of Texas at Arlington, or one of the many universities located nearby in Dallas.

Health care institutions located around Flower Mound includes Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Flower Mound, the Medical Center of Lewisville located to the east in Lewisville, the Carrolton Regional Medical Center, and the Texas Arlington Memorial Hospital in Arlington.

For intercity transportation services, residents of Flower Mound real estate can head into both Dallas and Carrollton for Greyhound service or Dallas for Amtrak service from the station located on South Houston Street. The closest airport to Flower Mound is the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Denton County Transportation Authority is an easy several miles to the east in Lewisville and provides transportation to Denton in the North and transfers to DART with routes to Plano and Dallas.
