  • Located in the extreme corner of Dallas County, Coppell is a medium-sized bedroom community of Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas, home to around 41,590 residents. Once a small farming village, Coppell was transformed into an upper-middle-class suburban community in the 1980s and 1990s after the opening of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport at the southwestern corner of the city. The local economy is also somewhat tied to the airport. Several major companies, including Amazon and Samsung, have large distribution centers in Coppell.

Shopping and Dining

Coppell real estate owners will find plenty of places to shop in and around the city. Grapevine Mills, located just outside of Coppell, is a collection of more than 200 off-price and outlet retailers including Neiman Marcus Last Call, H&M and J Crew. In addition, there is Sandy Lake Crossing Shopping Center in Coppell and numerous malls and shopping centers in nearby Dallas, Arlington, and Fort Worth.

Restaurants in Coppell range from casual eateries to fine dining establishments. Local favorites include J Macklin’s Grill for casual American cuisine and Hard Eight BBQ for Texas BBQ.

Parks and Recreation

One of the nicest things about owning Coppell real estate is the nearness to abundant parks and green spaces. The City of Coppell owns and operates 20 parks plus a tennis center and an aquatic and recreation center, with facilities that include hiking and biking trails, playgrounds, ball fields, and picnic grounds. In addition to the city parks, Coppell is close to two major recreational lakes–Lewisville Lake and Grapevine Lake.

Living and Schools

Most Coppell real estate consists of single family homes with a smattering of condos and townhouses. The majority of the housing stock in Coppell is relatively new, with the oldest homes dating from the 1980s and 1990s. The median home price in Coppell is approximately $420,000 as of 2017.

 Schools, Health, Transportation

Children of Coppell residents attend the schools of one of three school districts–the Coppell Independent School District, the Carollton-Farmers Branch ISD and the Lewisville ISD, all highly regarded. The area is also home to several private schools, including Crown of Life Lutheran School (Pre K – 8th grade).

For higher education, the area offers a myriad of choices, including the University of Texas at ArlingtonSouthern Methodist University in Dallas, and the University of North Texas in Denton.

Coppell residents need not worry about access to quality health care. The greater Dallas-Fort Worth area offers 132 hospitals, including some of the best health care facilities in the United States. Among these are Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, and Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.

It’s easy to get around Coppell. Although there is no public transportation in Coppell, the city is well laid out and traffic is rarely a problem within town limits. The city is surrounded by highways. State Route 121 connects the city with Fort Worth, I-35E with Dallas and I-635 with points around the outskirts of Dallas.

For trips outside the region, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is located just southwest of town. This airport, the largest in Texas and the second largest in the United States, offers non-stop flights to more than 140 destinations within the United States and 52 international destinations. Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is a hub for American Airlines, which is headquartered just outside the airport.
