Grapevine Festivals and Events You Must See!

grapevine festivals

One reason we love Grapevine is that it is home to some of the best events and festivals in Texas and, dare we say, the country. From wine festivals, vintage railroad trips and a Christmas to remember, it’s no wonder the International Festival and Events Association named Grapevine a World Festival and Event City in 2012, a permanent international honor given to only two other American cities the same year. Almost every day throughout the year, there’s something happening in Grapevine. But here are six of the most anticipated annual events and grapevine festivals.

1. GrapeFest

The Southwest’s largest wine festival and family event takes place every September in Historic Downtown Grapevine. The multi-day event includes the People’s Choice Wine Tasting Classic, GrapeStomp, GrapeFest Golf Classic, GrapeFest Tennis Classic, and gourmet food and wine pairings. There’s something for the whole family with chef demonstrations, festival foods, live entertainment, the Carnival, Midway and more! (Sept. 17-20, 2015)

2. Christmas Capital of Texas

Experience Texas’ own Winter Wonderland as Grapevine turns into the Christmas Capital of Texas over the course of 40+ days with 1,400 events.  From indoor tubing and ice slides at the Gaylord Texan Resort to wine trains along the Grapevine Urban Wine Trail on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad to nightly light shows, waterpark Santa visits, Christmas dinner theater and North Pole Express train ride for kids in Historic Downtown Grapevine, you’ll certainly get into the holiday spirit. (Nov. 14, 2015-Jan. 3, 2016)

3. Jazz Trains

Mark your calendars for the two nights each spring when the Grapevine Vintage Railroad hosts Jazz Wine Trains. During your three hour trip, experience different wines from wineries and tasting rooms along Grapevine’s Urban Wine Trail while being treated to live jazz, food and desserts aboard the 1920s-era train coaches. (March 18 & 19, 2016)

4. Day Out With Thomas TM

The kids will be enthralled when Thomas the Tank Engine TM comes to live in Grapevine, for a Day Out With Thomas TM over the course of two weekends each spring. Purchase tickets to take a 25-minute ride with Thomas himself. There’s also storytelling, live music, arts and crafts and a meet and greet with Sir Topham Hatt. (Spring 2016)

5. Main Street Fest

What can get better than three days of craft beer tastings, live music, wine and children’s activities? Coinciding with American Craft Beer Week, the annual event features Texas brews and regional craft beers, meet ups with brew masters to learn about the craft of brewing, and dozens of specialty vendors all taking place along Main Street in Historic Downtown Grapevine. Other fun events include cask tappings, pairing dinners, wine tastings, Carnival rides, the Midway, and KidCave, a children’s entertainment zone with Lego-building competition, sea creature touch pool and more! (May 20-22, 2016)

6. SummerBlast

Lasting all summer long, SummerBlast starts Memorial Day and lasts through Labor Day while focusing on the family. Enjoy day-trip excursions to the Fort Worth Stockyards on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad. Splash around in water parks at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Great Wolf Lodge. Finally, cap off the week with fireworks over Lake Grapevine each Friday night at 9:30 p.m. (Summer 2016)
