Recently marking five years of passenger service, the design phase of a much anticipated 2.1-mile extension to the TEXRail commuter train line into the Fort Worth Medical District is expected to begin construction next year, with a finish date estimated for late 2026. The project represents the 10th rail stop for the 27-mile TEXRail route.

Data shows the city of Grapevine already has one of the most popular stops for the service, and the addition of this new stop is expected to greatly benefit the community, nearby employers, and employees.

The new station will be located in the Fort Worth Medical District and called the “Near Southside Station.” Because the medical district employs more than 50,000 people, officials expect that medical professionals and staff will choose the TEXRail service (rather than their autos) for their commute.
