It’s hard to believe that the holidays are already us, wasn’t it just summer? While the holidays can be a stressful time, it can also be a fantastic time. Helping those that may be down on their luck this year, is a great way to help you feel better. If you find yourself wanting to give back our local community, here are some excellent ways you can help those that may need it this year.  So, get out there and volunteer, donate or organize this holiday season.

GRACE Christmas Cottage

GRACE is a Grapevine, Texas-based non-profit relief agency which provides food, clothing, financial assistance, and other vital necessities to people who are struggling with a limited income or recent emergency.

You can support GRACE this year through the Christmas Cottage.  Here are two events to get you started.

Get Your Grinch On While Supporting the GRACE Christmas Cottage
Southlake Style is hosting a special screening of The Grinch at 2 pm on Sunday, November 18th. Tickets are $10 each with 100% of proceeds benefiting GRACE Grapevine. Bring an unwrapped toy to donate to GRACE Christmas Cottage too! More at the link.

Plus, Brio Tuscan Grille and Copeland’s of New Orleans in Southlake are offering a discount with your movie ticket!

Can’t make it Sunday? Join GRACE for their annual Christmas Cottage Open House! This fun event will take place on Tuesday, December 11th from 4:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the Christmas Cottage location, 1250 William D. Tate in Grapevine.

Cookies and punch will be served for kiddos at 4:00 p.m. Plus, a visit from our favorite cranky, fuzzy green friend. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served starting at 5:30 p.m.

Gatehouse Grapevine

The Gatehouse is a supportive community for women and their children in crisis to discover a new path for permanent change.

The Gatehouse at Grapevine provides long-term solutions to deep-rooted problems, so that permanent, positive change becomes possible. In short-term programs, women may make decisions for change, but at The Gatehouse, they are given enough time to learn how to live it out.

So, grab some friends, family or co-workers and see what you can do to help these wonderful families.

NOVEMBER

• Thanksgiving turkeys and sides – provide frozen turkeys and/or specific menu items for Gatehouse families celebrating Thanksgiving
• Grocery gift cards – offer gift cards for holiday menu items for Gatehouse families

DECEMBER

• Cookies with Santa – funding for Christmas event for Gatehouse families
• Caroling – funding for cocoa and cookies after a Gatehouse community caroling event
• Gift cards – provide gift cards to major retailers so moms can purchase gifts for their kids

DFW Toys for Tots

The primary goal of Marine Toys for Tots is, through the gift of a new toy, help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America’s less fortunate children. Organize a Toys for Tots party, volunteer in the warehouse or signup for other ways to contribute this year.
