Top 5 Holiday Activities in Southlake

The holiday season is a time for family and friends to make special memories that last a lifetime. As a visitor or resident of Southlake, you can fill this time of year with unforgettable holiday activities for the whole family. Here are five ideas you’re sure to love.

Carriage Rides (Starting November 2)

Step back in time to the days of Charles Dickens as you enjoy good company and the soothing sounds of hoof beats with Christmas music playing in the background. A warm blanket is included and you’re welcome to bring your own mug of hot chocolate or coffee to help you stay warm.

Workhorse Ranch & Old Time Carriage Co. is the exclusive carriage ride provider in Southlake Town Square. This picturesque part of town has been preserved to mirror the quaint lifestyle of old.

Starting November 2 and running until December 23, you can reserve spots for groups of four. Choose from either a Standard five- to ten-minute ride or an Extended ride lasting 15 to 20 minutes. Larger groups can be accommodated, but only on select nights.

Annual Tree Lighting (November 22)

The Home for the Holidays Annual Tree Lighting ceremony is scheduled this year for November 22 at 6:30 pm at the Family Park Stage, but there’s even more to do in Southlake Town Square that day! Come early to hear the Southlake Community Band play from 5:15 to 6:20 pm. Go snow tubing, enjoy free carriage rides, write a letter to Santa and indulge in holiday treats. Then stay late to get photos with Santa and hear local school choirs perform holiday music for your enjoyment until 8:30 pm.

Also, this year Frank Cornish Park is being decked out as a Frozen Wonderland. Stop by to enjoy activities based on the popular Disney movie Frozen. Get photos with Anna and Elsa, build a snowman with Olaf, enjoy Frozen-themed crafts and much more.

Santa’s Village (Opening November 23)

There’s nothing more festive at the holidays than sitting on Santa’s lap and asking for a much-desired toy for Christmas. Children of any age are invited to visit the big man in red himself at Santa’s Village in Rustin Park from November 23 to December 24. Photographers from Ashley Nostalgia Photography will be there to document the special moment.

While you’re in Santa’s Village, be sure to have your child drop off letters to Santa at the Village Post Office. Don’t forget the return address; Santa himself will respond to the letter!

Breakfast with Santa (December 6 & 13)

You and your family can make Breakfast with Santa a holiday tradition. The event is scheduled for the first two Saturdays in December. With three time slots each day, you’re sure to find a date and time that works best for your family.

The event includes holiday crafts for your kids to enjoy while eating tasty breakfast treats. Make sure your kids bring their wish list for Santa, and parents, don’t forget your cameras!

Shopping at Southlake Town Square

Help make your schedule a little less hectic with the help of the Holiday Concierge. It’s the one place you can buy gift cards, make dinner reservations, check menus, glance over movie show times, get directions and much more. The concierge is located at 1253 Main Street for your convenience.
